DGFASLI conducted a Workshop on Dock Safety & Hazardous Chemical Handling on March 26, 2025 at Cochin Port, bringing together experts from NIT Calicut, DGFASLI, Cochy Port Authority, and participation from industry leaders including BPCL, HPCL, IOCL, Ganesh Benzo Plast, GAIL, Fertilizer and Chemicals Travancore Ltd., Petronet LNG Ltd., D P World, Maretek, Ultratech Cement, Aegis, Aspinwell Ltd., Konkan Storage System, Parisons Infrastructure, Ruchi Infrastructure Poovath and Cochin Port Authority. The workshop focussed on safe handling of bulk liquid cargo, preventing toxic releases and vapor cloud explosions, advanced PPE and industrial hygiene measures, and emergency response and chemical spill management. This event provided a platform for industry professionals to discuss best practices and strengthen the safety culture in dock operations

FAS Division, DGFASLI conduced three days training programme for competent persons recognised for the purposes of carrying out tests, examinations and inspections of lifting machines, chain, ropes and lifting tackles, under the provisions of the section 29 of Factories Act, 1948, from 18th-20th March, 2025. A total of 47 competent persons from various States/UTs have attended the training programme.

A training program on “Road Safety” was organised successfully by Haldia Dock Complex inside Haldia Port Premise on 10.03.2025 in technical support with IDS Kolkata and Haldia Traffic Police. Officers of IDS, Kolkata had delivered technical talk during this program.

Visit of HMLE at DGFASLI on 15-2-2025

"डॉक वर्क में सुरक्षा और खतरनाक रसायनों के संचालन" पर 5वीं एकदिवसीय कार्यशाला, HAZMAT ट्रांसपोर्टेशन पर विशेष ध्यान देते हुए, 30 जनवरी 2025 को डॉ. बाबासाहेब आंबेडकर कन्वेंशन सेंटर, गांधीधाम में सफलतापूर्वक आयोजित की गई। इस कार्यशाला में 214 प्रतिभागियों ने भाग लिया, जिसमें उद्योग विशेषज्ञ, पेशेवर और प्रमुख हितधारक शामिल थे, जिन्होंने डॉक ऑपरेशंस और खतरनाक रसायनों के संचालन से संबंधित सुरक्षा उपायों पर चर्चा की और उन्हें सुदृढ़ किया। इस कार्यशाला में भाग लेने वाले प्रमुख संगठनों में अकॉर्ड अस्पताल, आदानी कांडला बल्क टर्मिनल, एगिस वोपाक टर्मिनल लिमिटेड, बालाजी हेवी लिफ्टर्स प्राइवेट लिमिटेड, बैक्सी प्राइवेट लिमिटेड, CISF, CRL टर्मिनल प्राइवेट लिमिटेड, DBC सन्स गुजरात प्राइवेट लिमिटेड, DPA, एमामी एग्रो टेक, एक्सल इन्फ्रा, IFFCO, IOCL, इंडो निप्पॉन, JM बैक्सी प्राइवेट लिमिटेड, ट्रेड यूनियन, और शेरजी लिक्विड स्टोरेज शामिल थे। इस कार्यशाला का मुख्य उद्देश्य डॉक ऑपरेशंस में खतरनाक रसायनों (HAZMAT) के सुरक्षित संचालन, आपातकालीन तैयारियों को मजबूत करने और जोखिम प्रबंधन में सुधार पर केंद्रित था। उद्योग के नेताओं ने सर्वोत्तम प्रथाओं को साझा किया, अंतर्दृष्टि का आदान-प्रदान किया, और सुरक्षा तकनीकों और विनियमों के नवीनतम ढांचे पर विचार-विमर्श किया, ताकि खतरनाक रसायनों के संचालन में कार्यकर्ताओं की सुरक्षा और कल्याण सुनिश्चित किया जा सके। यह कार्यक्रम उद्योग में सुरक्षा संस्कृति को बढ़ावा देने के लिए एक महत्वपूर्ण मंच प्रदान करता है, जो निरंतर सीखने और सुरक्षा उपायों में सुधार की आवश्यकता को रेखांकित करता है, ताकि कार्यकर्ताओं और पर्यावरण की सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित की जा सके।

International conference on Vision Zero at Bangalore

A one-day workshop on “Safety in Dock Work and Handling of Hazardous Chemicals” was held on 20th December 2024 at Paradip Port Authority. Organized by the Directorate General Factory Advice Service & Labour Institutes (DGFASLI), Ministry of Labour and Employment in collaboration with Paradip Port Authority with technical support from IIT Kharagpur, this workshop was the 4th in a series of 11 workshops planned across major ports in India. The event was graced by prominent dignitaries, including the Chairman, Paradip Port Authority, Prof. and Head from IIT Kharagpur, and senior officers from Paradip Port Authority. It also saw active participation from industry leaders such as IOCL, JSW, KICTPPL, PICT JMBakshi, IFFCO, PPL, representatives from CISF - Fire Services, stevedores, shipping agents, and other key stakeholders from the maritime and industrial sectors. The workshop saw participation from over 100 organizations, fostering a collaborative platform to address critical safety issues in dock operations and the handling of hazardous chemicals.
